Now I know why so many have raved about this series. The Black Dagger Brotherhood isn't for the faint of heart. These men are bigger than life...literally...and fierce. The story begins with Darius, a member of the Brotherhood, asking the leader, Wrath, to be responsible for his half-human's daughter Beth's transition to a vampire. Beth is unaware of her parentage having never known her father and being raised in foster care. Wrath reluctantly accepts the request following the demise of Darius. Wrath and Beth's first meeting was seismic, which is an understatement. Beth and Wrath struggle to come to terms with the intensity of their feelings for one another while the Brotherhood continue to deal with the Lesser Society, led by Mr X, whose mission is to destroy the vampire race. There is an exciting climax to both situations with unresolved issues going forward into the series. The Black Dagger Brotherhood isn't pretty and glossy, it's exciting and and just noble enough to to go along for the ride and root them on. They have their flaws but it's what makes it interesting. I'm invested in this series so on to the next book.
