Poppy Wyatt was having tea with some friends at a hotel, celebrating her upcoming nuptials, when the fire alarm went off (fire drill). When it was over, her engagement ring was missing and her phone snatched. She finds a phone in the trash can and it becomes her lifeline to the hotel finding her ring. The problem was that the phone belonged to the now absent personal assistant of businessman Sam Roxton and he wants it back. In the meantime, Poppy figures finders, keepers and she's not ready to let this phone go. What happens next is the most hilarious romp as Poppy tries to hide the fact her ring is missing, one that is her fiancé's family heirloom, and to help navigate messages received for Sam on her "new" phone. Her attempts to humanize him in his communication with his subordinates and third parties just wreaked havoc in his life. She is well meaning and clever but was pretty naive in her meddling. This made for many laugh out loud moments. Poppy's preparations for her own wedding add further complications, especially the tenuous relationship with Magnus' (fiancé) parents and the wedding planner from hell. There is a serious side, though, as her relationship gets tested and Poppy has to deal with some disappointments about Magnus. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was fantastic, one of the best I've ever heard. She brought the story and characters to life in a way that I don't think I could have by simply reading it in printed form. I highly recommend this format because it was a wonderful reading experience, making this one of my most favorite reads this year.
