Danika MacConn was mated with Conlan MacConn, the Breed Warrior of the Order who was killed early in the series. She was pregnant at the time and is now living in Denmark with her son, Connor. The story begins with her visiting Conlan's family in the Scottish Highlands where, at a party, she runs afoul of one of the most dangerous men in the country, an Edinburgh crime boss. He is also accompanied by one of his henchmen,Bran, who seems awfully familiar to Danika. This was truly a little taste of the Breed as the relationship between Bran and Danika moves at warp speed and the action does, too. Even so, it was nice to find out what happened to Danika following Con's death and her departure from Boston. As with most novellas, I'm left wanting more.
