Storm Front (The Dresden Files, Book 1)
It took me a bit to get into this story, and maybe due to it being written in first person. However, about 1/3 into the book I was hooked. It has an exciting ending, which actually gives you much better insight into and appreciation of Harry Dresden.My advice is to stick with it if you find yourself drifting. It has a nice payoff.
